a bit of bali

This volcano had the most tedious trail I can ever remember, the summit ridge and the caldera were spectacular though, with views over to Lombok and into the Indian Ocean.
If anyone knows a good approach shoe, let me know. I'm in the market.

NOT GOOD NEWS.:
 " Monsoon season in Somalia/Gulf of Aden is ending in September, I believe the news is reporting. After that, the threat will rise, probably quite a bit, if the news reports are to be believed.
  I think you will experience a bit of trouble from acts of criminality rather than 'piracy'. Keep a good watch, an ear to the radio traffic, monitor credible internet news sites, etc.
  Keep in touch, if I hear anything specific coming out of the region, I will pass it along. Sorry I have no specifics at this time.

Bali

Arrived in Bali without disaster.  Plenty of drama though.  I am working like a hound to get re-geared up for the next, and longer, leg.  Luckily I have made a good friend here who is showing me the ropes. . . and saving me a tremendous amount of time.  Thanks Reg.

I'll be here a week, maybe even two.  Work is good, but I'd love to surf before heading off.  Today I am in Kuda and it is amazing as far as towns go.  Haven't seen anything quite like it.  It's like a whole city crammed into a quaint shady oldtown.

At Sea

I will be as sea crossing the Indian Ocean, stopping in Chagos, en route to either Seychelles or Madagascar, pirates depending.  It is a 4, 000 miles.  So i will be out of touch for two months.  Wish me luck.
